Two hours before his administering the oath to Mamata Banerjee as Chief Minister of West Bengal for the third consecutive term, Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has posted an explosive tweet, which can be interpreted as a threat to bring the state under president’s rule in view of the post-poll violence that has claimed more than a dozen lives during last three days.
“Concerned at unabated reports of unprecedented post poll retributive heart rendering violence inspite of flagging this @MamataOfficial @WBPolice @KolkataPolice. Such senseless violence shames democracy. Such collapse of law and order will neither be overlooked nor countenanced”, Dhankar said in a tweet at 8.32 this morning.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialed the Governor of West Bengal to discuss the political violence in the state and deteriorating law and order situation following the counting of votes. At least 12 people had died in the post-poll violence a figure that may be higher than the number of those killed during the month-long election.The Union home ministry has asked for a report on the violence.
Governor Jagdeep Dhankar tweeted today to say that the Prime Minister expressed serious anguish and concern at alarmingly worrisome law and order situation .
"PM called and expressed his serious anguish and concern at alarmingly worrisome law & order situation @MamataOfficial. I share grave concerns @PMOIndia given that violence vandalism, arson, loot and killings continue unabated," Dhankhar wrote on Twitter.
Accusing BJP of “growing desperate for President’s rule” and instigating the postpoll “communal clashes” that have also claimed five TMC workers and one from the ISF, Mamata Banerjee vowed to “tackle the situation” after taking oath on Wednesday.
