Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon released the list of businesses that are offering incentives to get a COVID shot.
It s all part of the county s Vaccine Incentive Program or VIP. People who get vaccinated at a County run site between May 14th and May 21st will receive a coupon book offering twenty different incentives at local restaurants throughout Onondaga County. The program kicks off this Friday at a clinic to be held at Onondaga Lake Park 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm.

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announcing today that the positivity rate continues to decline.
He said the 7-day rolling average is 0.9% and the daily average is 0.8%. McMahon said a week ago we were talking about a 1.4% positive rate. He said there are 28 new cases, only 41 people in the hospital, and 2 in ICU. Unfortunately, 2 more people died bringing the total number of COVID deaths in the county to 704.
McMahon also announced an incentive program to encourage people to get vaccinated. It begins on Friday at Onondaga Lake Park where the county will hold a Johnson & Johnson pop-up clinic. If people get vaccinated then, they will receive a coupon book. The coupons are good at many locations in the area for everything from a donut, to coffee, to a drink or appetizer at local restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. Executive McMahon said there are 18 participating businesses.

FIRST LOOK: KING DAVID’S OPENS A NEW SPOT: Few restaurants on Marshall Street have enjoyed the success that King David’s has had over the years. It was THE place on the Syracuse University Hill to get authentic gyros, shish kabobs, falafels and fresh hummus. While that spot closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and has yet to reopen, a location in Fayetteville is open and now, a new King David’s opened a few weeks ago in Fairmount, although it hasn’t had its official grand opening.
