KARACHI:
The western alignment routes of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be completed in around three years while the country is entering the second phase of CPEC that primarily focuses on agriculture and mass industrialisation, said CPEC Authority Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa.
Speaking to businessmen at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), he said that work on the western alignment was underway on the route from Islamabad to Dera Ismail Khan and from Dera Ismail Khan to Zhob.

ISLAMABAD: Gilgit-Baltistan Information Minister Fatehullah Khan on Saturday said the PTI-led government was planning to build a new international standard airport in Gilgit to meet the requirements of international tourists and demand from domestic investors.
“The construction of a state-of-the-art new airport in the region will help boost the country’s exports as well as domestic and foreign tourism,” he said while speaking to PTV.
“The government is identifying key issues in the development of G-B,” he said, adding that the government has announced a multi-billion package for the G-B that would usher in a “new era” of progress in the region.

Islamabad, May 3 (Gwadar Pro) - The Gwadar Eastbay Expressway project with an estimated cost of USD 168 million under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is in the final stage and it would be completed by October this year, Chairman CPEC Authority Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa said on Sunday afternoon.
In a tweet, he said the 14.5-kilometre offshore expressway has already been completed while the remaining 4.5-kilometre onshore road is under construction and 92 percent of work has been completed.
The Chairman CPEC Authority said the Expressway will connect the port with the second phase of the Free Trade Zone which will facilitate the business climate of the zone and the port alike. He said the CPEC project created 2000 direct jobs.
