Jordyn Liegl, Evan Peters named Miss Massillonian, Outstanding Senior Boy

MASSILLON – Jordyn Liegl has always wanted to be a Miss Massillonian. It s been a dream of mine since second grade, the Washington High senior said. My mom, an alum, told me about it and I was like, Yeah, I ll do that. That drive helped Liegl to push herself to succeed. That just helped me to set high standards and succeed as much as I could through my educational career.   Her drive paid off. On Wednesday night, Liegl was named Miss Massillonian. Classmate Evan Peters was honored as Outstanding Senior Boy. The winners of the prestigious award were announced during the high school awards ceremony.

Canton student earns Rotary Student of the Month at BOCES Seaway Tech for April

Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - 11:48 am NORWOOD The Seaway Career & Technical Education Center in Norwood announces Hailee Duvall as the Potsdam Rotary Club Student of the Month for April 2021. She is a student in the Health Careers Program, from the Canton Central School District and is the daughter of Heather Perkins and James Duvall. Health Careers is a two-year program that provides students with the foundation needed to pursue a career in the health care field. Basic entry level skills are learned through theory and also in the lab setting for a variety of health occupations. Duvall has spent her junior and senior year learning about work ethic, body structure and function, health and wellness, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, how to measure vital signs along with spending time in the lab practicing the skills necessary to provide patient care in the health care setting.

May 10, 2021 Blaine Havens, son of Joy and Jasen Havens, is the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center’s February Student of the Month. Blaine is a senior from Beaver Local High School and is enrolled in the Precision Machining and Manufacturing (PMM) Program under the instruction of Matt Peters. He has taken College Credit Plus (CCP) classes since 2018 and is a current member of the Youngstown State Honors College earning the Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship. Upon graduation, he will have earned 38 college credits toward a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Blaine is a member of SkillsUSA, Beaver Local National Honor Society (NHS), CCCTC chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), and is a member of the Beaver Local swim team. The Washington County Career Center honors its February Students of the Month, Curstin Giffin and Kane Clinton. Curstin Giffin is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and she is the daughter of Dale and Beth Giffin of Belpre. At the Career Center, Giffin is a member of the SkillsUSA youth organization as well as Interact Club and the National Technical Honor Society. In addition, she holds the office of class secretary. She has received awards for Principal’s List and is an Energy Bus Driver member for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals.
