Kashmir s first gold assaying, hallmarkng centre starts functioning ANI | Updated: Jan 10, 2021 22:57 IST Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], January 10 (ANI): The first centre for gold assaying and hallmarking set up in the valley, the Kashmir Hallmarking Centre (KHC), has started functioning from today. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a national standards body of India, has recognised the KHC. The centre is intended for certifying gold and verifying its purity. This centre is the first of its kind in Kashmir and fourth in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It has been funded under the Seed Capital Fund Scheme of the Jammu and Kashmir Government.

No focus on appointment of Ombudsman for ULBs, PRIs even after relaxation in criteria

MHA understands importance of mechanism not J&K Govt Mohinder Verma JAMMU, Jan 9: Despite the fact that Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions are prone to the corrupt practices especially when whopping funds are being provided by the Union Government, there is absolutely no focus on the appointment of Ombudsman for the both even after relaxation in the eligibility criteria by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. The Legislature of the then State of Jammu and Kashmir had enacted the Municipal Ombudsman Act in the year 2010 in order to establish the mechanism for the purpose of investigating charges of corruption or maladministration in the Urban Local Bodies. Similarly, J&K Ombudsman for Panchayats Act was enacted in the year 2014 with the same objective.

JK Reports 122 New COVID-19 Cases, Tally Reaches 122425

SRINAGAR: The Government on Saturday informed that 122 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), 64 from Jammu division and 58 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 122425.

Terror Case: PDP leader Waheed Parra granted bail

Waheed Ur Rehman Parra  |  Photo Credit: Twitter Youth president of PDP, Waheed ur Rehman Parra, who was arrested by NIA for alleged links with terror outfit, Hizbul Mujahideen, was granted bail by the court today. Special Judge NIA, Sunit Gupta, granted bail to Parra after he furnished surety bond of one lakh rupees. The judge ordered that Parra cannot leave the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) without prior written permission of this court during the period of bail.  While granting bail, the court asked Parra to surrender his passport with the investigating officer of NIA against proper receipt.
