In a tweet, Locsin said he has told President Duterte of his decision to “walk away” from power and position even as some of his “friends” in the Cabinet are poised to join the senatorial race.
“Friends in Cabinet are running for the Senate; those I deeply admire. I already declined; telling the President I deem it infinitely higher honor to walk away from power and position beside him in June 2022. No greater honor than to walk away from it all with such a president,” he said.
It is not known, however, if Locsin’s decision not to seek a Senate seat is already final, or “he is just merely playing hard-to-get,” said a former DFA official who requested anonymity.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said in statement Wednesday, Feb. 17 that the completion of the Cagayan Valley Road works came in time in helping the local community face the effects of the ongoing pandemic, especially in connection with tourism.
Villar, citing a report by DPWH Regional Office 2 Director Loreta M. Malaluan, said the completed 829-meter road upgrading project involved the overlaying of asphalt along the four-lane portion of Cagayan Valley Road in Barangay Camasi, Peñablanca.
“The improvement of the road section has significantly resulted to better vehicular movement in the area while also promoting safety to travelers. With a smoother road, a boost in mobility and movement of goods and services is also expected, allowing for economic growth in town,” the DPWH statement read.
