Oishee’s leave to appeal plea to seek acquittal granted 208 DHAKA, March 15, 2021 (BSS) – The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today granted a leave to appeal petition of Oishee Rahman to seek acquittal in a case where she has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering her parents in 2013. The apex court also dismissed a state plea against a High Court order that had commuted her death sentence to life imprisonment in 2017. A four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order today. “As a result of today’s order, Oishee got the chance to appeal against her life imprisonment sentence,” defence counsel Foysal H Khan said.

The HC, however, scrapped another part of the lower court s judgement delivered in 2008 which handed three years imprisonment to Salim for concealing information about his wealth to the Anti-Corruption Commission.
