(KYMA, KECY) - A Yuma man has been formally charged with 8 felonies all involving sexual contact with girls under the age of 15. The Yuma County Sheriff s Office (YCSO) on Tuesday arrested 38-year-old Roberto Garcia on charges of sexual abuse, molestation of a child, and aggravated assault. On Friday, a judge formally Garcia with those crimes. Prosecutors say the incidents happened between October of 2020 and June of 2021. They say the victims were all girls under the age of 15. Garcia now faces one count of molestation of a child, one count of attempted molestation, three counts of aggravated assault with sexual motivation, two counts of sexual abuse, and one count of attempted sexual abuse.

(CBS 13) - The Yuma County Sheriff s Office welcomed eight new detention officers Thursday during a graduation ceremony for academy class 101, at the Dr. Martin Luther King Center. Following a seven-week training course and more than 280 hours, eight out of the ten who started the training completed it and were sworn in by Yuma County Superior Court Judge Gregory Stewart. Firefighters use the jaws of life to free a driver from the wreckage of the crash on Avenue B The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department (SCFD) says it happened just before 2:45 Tuesday afternoon on Avenue B near County 18th street. First responders arrived to find a BMW, a Chevy Silverado, and a gray sedan, all with significant damage. They say the driver of the Silverado was trapped in the pickup. They had to use the jaws of life to free that person.
