STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A 25-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly shooting a 34-year-old man who was attending a New Brighton memorial for a shooting victim in September.
Tyler Carmon, 25, a resident of the 500 block of Manor Road in Castleton Corners, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm, according to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
The victim of the shooting, Cedric Black, 34, was attending a memorial gathering on Jersey Street on Sept. 15 for a 21-year-old man in the neighborhood who suffered the same fate a day earlier.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y . An estimated 5,200 hospital staff members on New York City’s front line against the coronavirus (COVID-19) had received a dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as of Thursday morning, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio.
That number includes 3,565 doses since Wednesday morning, and the mayor said during his morning press briefing that the daily number of administered vaccines will continue to grow as the process becomes more streamlined.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. While the first (COVID-19) vaccines are currently being administered to certain adults in the United States, one group seems to have been left out of the plan children.
Just when will the two-shot vaccine be available for kids? That’s still unknown, as vaccine testing is now only getting started for those under the age of 12 and adolescents.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Five more Staten Islanders have succumbed to the coronavirus, raising the borough’s suspected COVID-19 death total for the month of December to 70, city Health Department data shows.
At the same time, 253 new confirmed coronavirus cases were reported in the borough in the past 24 hours, while hospitalizations rose slightly, according to the most recent data available.
As of 1 p.m. Thursday, the virus is believed to have claimed the lives of 1,201 Staten Islanders.
