A Twentynine Palms girl was injured when she was hit by a car Friday afternoon. About 2:50 p.m., the 7-year-old girl was playing in her father’s wheelchair in the street at the intersection of El Paseo Drive and Abronia Avenue in Twentynine Palms when the wheelchair was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the car stopped immediately and called for help. The girl suffered a broken leg and was taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance to Hi-Desert Medical Center, where she was then flown to Loma Linda Children’s Hospital. Family friends have reported that the girl also has bleeding on her brain. A Sheriff’s Department investigation found that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash.
