The Main Line produced a fine number of outstanding swimmers this past winter. At Conestoga, senior Jake Wang, who was named the Boys Swimmer of the Meet at the PIAA 3A Swimming and Diving Championships for the second year in a row, led the Pioneer boys team to a best-ever second-place finish. Lower Merion, led by senior Alexa Conner, who finished second in two individual events at States, finished ninth in the PIAA 3A girls team competition

The junior finished first in girls diving at the PIAA 3A Swimming and Diving Championships at Bucknell University, with a total of 478.40 points. Hillier recorded a score of 499.70 in winning the PIAA District 1 3A diving title.

It’s been another memorable season for both the Conestoga High School boys and girls swimming teams this winter. The Pioneer girls team, the defending PIAA District 1 3A champions, went undefeated in Central League meets then swept to a first place finish in the Central League Meet last weekend, capturing their ninth consecutive Central League title.

The Conestoga High School boys and girls swimming teams, who went through the dual meet season undefeated in the Central League (9-0 overall, 6-0 Central), got off to a great start on the first day of the two-day Central League Meet at Ridley High School Friday.

Facing a couple of perennially strong teams in host Malvern Prep and Villa Maria Academy, the Conestoga High School swim teams earned a couple of dual meet victories Monday. The boys won by a score of 99-79, while the girls prevailed 109-72

Last winter, the Chester County high school swimming scene featured a District 1 champion in Conestoga and the Daily Local News Girls Swimmer of the Year in Downingtown East senior Alexa Fulton. The Pioneers lost four All-American swimmers to graduation, and Fulton is now swimming for the University of Texas, but there are plenty of other fine swimmers to watch in Chester County this winter.
