After huge cracks developed in several houses,  thanks to land subsidence, the town - already located in a sensitive zone - face threat. Joshimath Sinking: Big cracks have appeared in the buildings of the complex, around the Lakshmi Narayan temple. Brahmachari Mukundanand, in-charge of Jyotir Math, said that cracks had appeared in the entrance of the math, Lakshmi Narayan temple and auditorium.

LUCKNOW (Reuters) - Indian authorities have moved nearly 200 people from their homes in the Himalayan town of Joshimath, an official said on Saturday, after hundreds of buildings in the area popular with pilgrims and tourists developed cracks due to shifting soil.
