The delegation on Wednesday took the community's frustrations over high levels of crime to the president's office. Earlier on Wednesday, security personnel refused the delegation entry into the Union Buildings.

Protesting Diepsloot residents say when President Cyril Ramaphosa is done resolving the issues of Ukraine and Russia, he must come and resolve the issues faced by ordinary South Africans, especially crime in their area.


On Monday night, tyres were burnt and roads were blocked due to protests over rampant crime.

The demonstration has entered day two, with disgruntled residents taking to the streets calling on police intervention for the high crime rate in the area.

Many shop owners were forced to close their businesses when Diepsloot residents embarked on a violent protest on Tuesday morning.

The streets are currently barricaded in a service delivery protest in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg.

Diepsloot residents claim they are living in fear despite the deployment of more police officers, including the Tactical Response Team.



The community of Diepsloot has called for President Cyril Ramaphosa to visit the area following ongoing protests against crime in the area.

Demonstrations once again flared in the North of Johannesburg on Tuesday with disgruntled residents burning tyres and barricading roads over service delivery shortfalls including power outages and rampant crime in the area.

Community members in Diepsloot burnt the stalls of hawkers and the shacks they allege belong to criminals.
