“In 2019 Nissan Philippines boldly claimed that it would herald the start of the Philippine EV age by officially announcing that its Leaf will be launched here. A global pandemic delayed that plan a bit, but here we are finally. Continue reading below ↓
“Like in any emerging market, electric vehicles in the Philippines have suffered from a chicken-and-egg dilemma. Car brands were reluctant to bring in EVs because there were no chargers and due to low market interest. No company wanted to invest in building a charging network because there were no electric cars. Who will make the first move?

GMC recently put the new Hummer EV Pickup to the test in Moab, Utah. The world’s first all-electric supertruck was pushed to the limits to make sure its off-road features could endure harsh terrains.

What did GMC test?

GMC looked at a wide variety of the Hummer EV Pickup’s features, including e4WD and torque distribution, rear steering, stability control, and eLockers. The Hummer EV also tested out the available Extract Mode, which activates Adaptive Air Ride Suspension to lift the truck about 6 inches. This makes it easier for the truck to ford streams and clear boulders.

So far, we have only seen the pre-production version of the GMC Hummer EV pickup truck, the production model debuts this Fall. In the meantime, GMC is busy testing its upcoming electric truck. We’ve seen plenty of winter testing videos, now GMC is testing the EV in one of the most popular off-roading sites in America: Moab. Traversing legendary trails across Moab, the team’s testing and calibration included Adaptive Air Suspension hardware, Extract Mode, Terrain Mode, One-Pedal Driving control, e4WD and torque distribution, eLockers, stability control, rear steering, CrabWalk and more.

There, GMC engineers had the opportunity to both test and calibrate the Hummer EV’s Adaptive Air Suspension hardware, its Extract Mode, Terrain Mode, One-Pedal Driving control, the e4WD system with torque distribution, eLockers stability control, rear steering, CrabWalk, and more.
The truck s available Terrain Mode is part of the Drive Mode Control system and offers two types of braking calibrations. One is a mild braking option for two-foot driving and the other a purpose-designed One-Pedal Driving feature for low-speed off-road maneuvers. Like with other electric vehicles, the Hummer EV’s One-Pedal Driving mode lets you accelerate and decelerate using just the accelerator pedal.
We finally know what all of those Hummers were doing near Moab earlier this year. The team was putting the EV through its paces at the legendary off-road playground.
The automaker has released footage of the upcoming electric pickup tackling steep vertical climbs, challenging trails, and more in the national parks outside the Utah town.
GMC says its teams were testing and calibrating things like the Adaptive Air Suspension hardware, Extract Mode, Terrain Mode, One-Pedal Driving control, the e4WD system, the torque distribution, the eLockers, the stability control, the rear-wheel steering, CrabWalk, and more.
In fact, it’s CrabWalk that we know these Hummers for. The electric pickups were caught CrabWalking along the highway near the town in videos privately uploaded to YouTube last month.
