Globe Telecom Inc. currently employs over 7,400 green solutions to reduce carbon emissions across its network.
Better yet, by 2030, it will upgrade its infrastructure and retrofit its industries to make them sustainable and slash CO2 emissions by 30 percent, the telco today (May 25) stated.
“We continue to engage partners in implementing renewable energy solutions such as solar panels and fuel cells within our operations,” explained President and Chief Executive Officer Ernest L. Cu
Already, the telco consumes cleaner fuel at lesser quantities, achieving lower emissions and maintaining energy-efficient heat removal throughout its operations.
Globe has been deploying green network solutions since 2014.
These include fuel cell systems, direct current generators, lithium ion batteries and free cooling systems.

THE education unit of Phinma Corp. has acquired Union College of Laguna (UCL) for P88.17 million, making it the company’s second school in Laguna and its ninth in the Philippines.
“Despite the challenges we faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, our mission to provide quality, accessible education to underserved students has not changed,” Phinma Education Holdings, Inc. Country Head Dr. Raymundo P. Reyes said.
UCL has undergraduate programs in education, accountancy, computer science, computer engineering, information technology, criminology, hotel and restaurant management, and psychology.
The school is evaluating and adjusting courses “based on the needs of industries.”

“Globe has always been at the forefront of providing value to customers with our plans, so they can access an array of content that matter to them,” he explained.

Globe Telecom Inc.’s home broadband business grew 27 percent to P7.4 billion in the first quarter of the year, its highest take so far, in the company’s history on robust internet connection demand during the pandemic.
In a statement, Globe said, the continuing pandemic boosted demand for internet connections, with total home broadband subscribers now breaching the 4 million mark, 81 percent higher from last year’s figure.
This was mainly supported by the sustained fixed wireless broadband users’ expansion, now up by 105 percent from last year
Penetration in the prepaid market and high-speed postpaid wired acquisitions likewise grew.
