According to the latest customs data, China exported 210 mt of unwrought zinc alloy in August, up 15.04% on the month and down 17.36% on the year. The exports totalled 1,147 mt in January-August 2022, down 72.28% YoY.

Data showed that nickel imports from Russia to the United States increased 70% from March to June this year. During the same time, that figure stood at 22% in the European Union.

Rising SHFE/LME price ratio allowed higher profit margins of smelters concerning imported zinc concentrate, and smelters were with relatively strong purchasing interest.

 China imported 3,100 mt of refined zinc in August, down 17.09% on the month and 58.88% on the year.

The total import volume was 49,300 mt, down 53.4% year-on-year, and 85.1% of imported primary aluminium were originated from the Russia.

By variety, the import volume of sulphide ore added 15.9% MoM to 37,600 mt with high production of domestic smelters that resulted in steady demand growth.
