Otter Tail Polar Plunge fundraiser is back on March 13
The Polar Plunge is the biggest fundraiser for Special Olympics Minnesota. Participants can sign up for the in-person event on Otter Tail Lake or participate in a virtual plunge.

The Polar Plunge is back for the second year in a row. The event will take place on March 13 at noon on Otter Tail Lake.
(Fergus Falls, MN) A Deputy with the Otter Tail County Sheriff s Office has been charged with a misdemeanor in connection a double fatal crash back on October 2nd. The suspect, Deputy Kelly Backman. Court documents show Backman, along with another deputy, was in pursuit of a suspect in Downtown Fergus Falls, when that suspect ignored a stop sign a struck another car, killing a husband and wife in their 70s.

An Ottertail man was killed Thursday, Feb. 4, the second fatal train accident in Otter Tail County this year.

The man killed when his pickup was hit by a train in Otter Tail County on Thursday has been identified.
Joe Mack, 60, of Ottertail, was killed when his vehicle was hit by a train southeast of the city of Ottertail at 8:48 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, an Otter Tail County Sheriff s Office report said.
The accident occurred at the railroad crossing on 308th Street, near the 406th Avenue intersection southeast of the city of Ottertail, when the passenger side of a Dodge Ram pickup truck was struck by a Canadian Pacific train.
Pickup driver killed in collision with train in western Minnesota Paul Walsh, Star Tribune
A pickup truck driver was hit by a freight train Thursday in western Minnesota and killed, authorities said.
The collision occurred southeast of the city of Otter Tail about 8:45 a.m., according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff s Office.
The pickup driver, a 60-year-old man who lived nearby, was declared dead at the scene, the Sheriff s Office said.
The pickup was heading east on 308th Street, where it was hit on the passenger side by the northbound freight train, according to the Sheriff s Office.
Two train workers were not hurt.
