Five new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the Thunder Bay district on Friday.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) said one of the cases is associated with the outbreak at Southbridge Roseview.
One is due to close contact, and one is attributed to travel outside of northwestern Ontario.
The TBDHU said the transmission category of the other two cases is yet to be determined.

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says passengers on a recent flight that landed in Thunder Bay have a low risk of exposure to COVID-19.
The health unit on Thursday said anyone in rows 12 to 18 on Air Canada flight 7936 from Toronto to Thunder Bay on Dec. 28 should monitor themselves for symptoms and immediately self-isolate in even one symptom is showing.
Anyone on the flight with symptoms should contact the health unit at 625-5900 or phone their local assessment centre to arrange for testing.

You may have been exposed you were aboard flight AC7932 on New Year’s Day.
The other flight was AC392 that landed in Thunder Bay on January 2.

St. Joseph’s Hospital staff member tests positive for COVID-19
Concerns have been raised regarding how the case was communicated with family members of patients

THUNDER BAY - A staff member at St. Joseph’s Hospital has tested positive for COVID-19.
There are no details on when the staff member tested positive, but hospital officials say they have been in touch with families of patients.
“There has been communication with all families whose loved ones are on enhanced precautions, but clearly we could have done better in responding,” said a spokesperson with St. Joseph’s Care Group in a statement.
