Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw are getting set to launch their new challenge, Bikes, Boats, Boots, on August 7. The hospice are searching for fundraisers to join the action-packed day at Ullswater and Helvellyn, which will include cycling, canoeing, and hiking. Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Fundraising Manager, Eleanor Viney, said: “We are really excited to be hosting this wonderful challenge in the beautiful Lake District. “We know that so many people enjoy exploring the lakes, fells and mountains in our home county, but this event will offer new and exciting ways to explore the landscape and challenge themselves this summer.
One dedicated man has played his part for the community, raising more than £18,000 for a Cumbrian NHS trust – with some very funky fundraising methods. Event organiser Ian Milburn kept everyone entertained during lockdown with his virtual singing, dancing and bingo events, keeping spirits up while nobody could attend concerts or comedy shows in-person. People across the county signed up to take part in the fun-filled events, and businesses donated bingo prizes for all to enjoy. But the Carlisle man wasn’t done yet, and instead donned a range of costumes and wigs, teaming up with his wife, Steph, to continue bringing endless joy throughout the city with his virtual events.

Morven Yerbury
A 12-year-old girl has raised over £800 to support Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice by baking a range of cakes and sweet treats.
Earlier this year, Morven Yerbury began to bake cakes and sweet treats to sell in aid of the hospice.
Morven sold the cakes to her family, friends and people from her local village and raised £860.
Morven said: “I chose to support Eden Valley Hospice as it is my school house’s chosen charity.
“Also, a friend and neighbour inspired me to help as she explained how the charity was struggling and that she was selling marmalade to help, so I decided to bake.
