MARSHALL WOMAN FACING FELONY CHARGE AFTER TRYING TO ESCAPE CUSTODY

A Marshall woman has been charged with a felony for allegedly assaulting a law-enforcement officer on Wednesday, May 12. According to a Saline County Deputy’s report, a deputy was escorting Sydney Nicole Rodgers out of the courthouse in Marshall after she was ordered by a judge to spend time in the county jail for probation violation. Rodgers, whose hands were cuffed in front of her body, pulled away and ran to a parked vehicle on the south side of the square. She got in and started the vehicle. While pulling out, she made eye contact with the deputy, who was in pursuit. The vehicle nearly struck the deputy, who had to get out of the way.

MARSHALL MAN CHARGED WITH FELONIES IN TWO DIFFERENT ALLEGED INCIDENTS

A DENTON, TEXAS MAN CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE FELONIES IN SALINE COUNTY HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO JAIL TIME

One of two suspects who were arrested in connection with a stolen vehicle has been sentenced to serve jail time. While doing a business check on January 29, Saline County deputies identified a vehicle that had been stolen out of Kansas City on January 20. Two subjects were arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle and possession of controlled substances. Justin Fletcher, 29, of Denton, Texas pleaded guilty on May 3 to two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, and a felony charge for tampering with a motor vehicle. The State dismissed the misdemeanor for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. The Court sentenced to seven years in the Department of Corrections on all three counts.

COURT RESCHEDULES PLEA/TRIAL SETTING FOR ERIK AGUIRRE

A 24-year-old Marshall man has been charged with felonies for allegedly breaking into a residence and assaulting a woman on January 5. Erik Ivan Aguirre was arrested after officers with the Marshall Police Department responded to a call from a juvenile that stated a man was entering a home where he had been banned and was assaulting the juvenile’s mother. Aguirre is charged with a Class B Felony for Burglary in the First Degree and a Class E Felony for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree. Aguirre was arraigned January 26 and pleaded not guilty to all charges. Bond remains at $50,000 cash only.

OKLAHOMA RESIDENT FACING WEAPON-RELATED FELONY CHARGE IN SALINE COUNTY

An Oilton, Oklahoma, man has been charged with a felony for allegedly firing a weapon out of a vehicle on Wednesday, April 28, in Saline County. According to a probable-cause statement, a Saline County deputy was dispatched to a residence on Magnolia Avenue in reference to threats. The reporting party advised he had received a text message from Aaron Michael Gieringer, and he felt Gieringer was going to harm his dog. The deputy responded and observed a vehicle matching the description provided, which he observed to be occupied. As the deputy placed his vehicle in park, he said he observed Gieringer stick the barrel of a shotgun out of the driver’s window and fire one shot into the air in the southwest direction, where a residence is located approximately less than one mile away. The deputy ordered Gieringer to exit the vehicle five times, and he did not comply. A short time later, Gieringer complied and exited the vehicle.
