But since early 2020, Mr Mendy s team has been in limbo, with large events blocked by social distancing rules, tiered restrictions and lockdowns. There’s no income stream for the magazine either because every venue has battened down the hatches,” he said. “They’ve locked down their budgets because there’s no revenue. I think we’ve had two clients that have paid for advertising since this started. Usually, it would be hundreds.”

Businesses across Fenland affected by the Covid-19 pandemic should check if they can apply for a range of support schemes.
Since the first lockdown last year, Fenland District Council (FDC) has distributed more than £24 million in funding and made over 2,500 payments to businesses.
Over £3 million has been paid to businesses since the December restrictions were enforced, and the council is now urging firms to apply before closing time.
The grant schemes available in Fenland are:
- Closed Businesses Lockdown Payment (CBLP) – a one-off grant payment of either £4,000, £6,000 or £9,000 is available to businesses forced to close in line with national restrictions which came into force on January 5, 2021.

Fenland businesses which have been impacted by local and national Covid-19 restrictions are being reminded to check if theyâre eligible for grant support.
Fenland District Council is administering a range of Government business grant schemes via its website at: www.fenland.gov.uk/businessgrants â and is urging businesses to apply before the closing dates.
Since the first lockdown last year, the council has distributed more than £24million in funding and made over 2,500 payments to businesses, with over £3million being paid out to businesses since the December restrictions came into force.
Allerdale Council are reminding landlords they have until Sunday to apply for the wet-let pub grant. The Christmas Support Payment for wet-led pubs is a one-off grant for premises that were under Tier 2 or 3 restrictions between December 2 and 29. Wet-led pubs are those that derive under 50 per cent of their income from food sales. Businesses that are also in receipt of other Local Restrictions Support Grants (LRSG) or the Additional Restrictions Grant – can receive this grant. Grant income received by a business is taxable. The Christmas Support Payment will need to be included as income in the tax return of the business.
