Muncie father arrested for neglect after truck strikes son
MUNCIE, Ind. A Muncie man was arrested on a neglect-of-a-dependent charge after his son was struck by a truck while riding a bicycle.
Joshua Allen Erwin, 33, of the 2000 block of South Manville Road, continued to be held without bond in the Delaware County jail on Tuesday.
City police said Erwin s son suffered abrasions from the roadway all over his legs, arms and face after his bicycle was hit by the truck at Gilbert Street and Cole Avenue shortly before 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
The truck driver reported he was traveling between 20 and 25 mph when the boy rode out in front of his vehicle.
MUNCIE, Ind. Worldwide, one in five women will experience a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder, such as postpartum depression. From the roughly 700 babies born in Delaware County annually, about 140 parents will develop a disorder, and many don t know where to turn for help.
The Muncie Maternal Mental Health Coalition is trying to change that, and will be bringing the issue to light during the Climb Out of the Darkness event on May 1.
While perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are a common problem, Corie Hess, founder of the coalition, said women and families often try to avoid that conversation due to fear and stigma surrounding mental health.
