According to the developers for the project, the rough framing, windows, doors and roofing work on the project are now complete.

MUNCIE, Ind. The White River Lofts, the cornerstone for the city s plans to build up a riverfront district in Muncie s downtown, hit a milestone in construction as of Monday. According to the developers for the project, the rough framing, windows, doors and roofing work on the project are now complete.  The massive high-end apartment complex along West Washington Street will boast 55 luxury apartments and 2,000 square feet of commercial space. The developer broke ground on the project at the end of May 2020. “This is the first step of activating one of Muncie’s best natural resources, the White River, in downtown. … We are excited to see this project moving toward completion.” stated Muncie mayor Dan Ridenour in a news release.

2 dead in Muncie house fire

Updated: 12:42 AM EST February 17, 2021 MUNCIE, Ind. Two people died after a late-night house fire in Muncie.   The Muncie Fire Department said they received the call of a house fire at 1621 West 16th Street around 11:30 p.m. Monday   Crews arrived to find fire coming from a bedroom window.   Firefighters transported a woman to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital for treatment. Fire investigators said the woman told them she believes she caught a couch on fire while smoking.   The Delaware County Coroner’s Office said 74-year-old Virgil Murray and 70-year-old Brenda Stanley died in the fire.
