This was the first year for the mural contest, which was the brainchild of Professor of Communications Chrissie Chapman. GODFREY Breanna Sak of Granite City is the winner of this year’s interactive mural competition at Lewis and Clark Community College. Her work will be displayed outside the Robert L. Watson Math Building, near the entrance to The Commons, for the next year. Sak, who earned an Associate in Applied Science in Graphic Design, said she isn’t used to being in the spotlight.

Maryville Mayor Craig Short, Trustee Julie Clark, Superintendent Matt Hoffman, Parks and Rec Committee Chair Sharon Petty and members Bob Hunter, Andrea Molkenbur, Mike Spillers, Tom Fitzgerald, Peg Raffety, Colleen Seiffert plus numerous Pickleball enthusiasts were present to celebrate the event.

The area’s first graduation of the season is planned at Mt. Olive High School on Saturday, May 8. The ceremony is planned in the high school gym at 7 p.m. Alton High School is planning two separate ceremonies to adhere to social distancing practices. Ceremonies are planned for 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, and 11 a.m., Saturday, May 29 both at the Alton Public School Stadium. In case of inclement weather, both ceremonies will be moved to the high school.
