Firefighters rescue snowmobiler who broke through ice in Commerce Township Jaromir Chalabala and last updated 2021-01-21 08:08:00-05 (WXYZ) — Firefighters rescued a snowmobiler who broke through the ice on the north end of N. Commerce Lake Wednesday evening. Firefighters, Oakland County Sheriff s deputies and local EMS crews were called to the area around 9 p.m. when a resident on Creedmore Street reported that a snowmobiler drove out onto the lake, broke through the thin ice and was crying for help. First responders rescued the victim from the lake; the victim was reportedly in good condition. Officials say the victim was extremely lucky because the snowmobile went through the ice in a fairly shallow area of the lake.
