NEWTON, IOWA MEN CHARGED WITH DRUG RELATED FELONIES HAVE CASES CONTINUED

Two Newton, Iowa, residents are facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Saline County on January 22. According to a report from a Saline County Deputy, he conducted a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle on northbound U.S. Highway 65. During the traffic stop, the passenger provided multiple versions of identification and showed signs of impairment by a stimulant narcotic. When the passenger made statements about narcotics to be present in the vehicle, a search of the vehicle was conducted. The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested for possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine- and transported to the Saline County Sheriff’s Department.

Gering Man Facing Drug Felonies Following 2020 WING Task Force Operation

BY Scott Miller | January 29, 2021 Photo Courtesy SBCDC A Gering man is facing a pair of felony drug charges following a series of controlled drug buys conducted by the WING Drug Task Force last year. 56-year-old Travis Gilliland was arrested Wednesday on two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine. In court documents, investigators say Gilliland sold 7.5 and 8.3 grams of meth to cooperating individuals during separate WING operations in mid-April 2020. An initial court appearance for Gilliland is scheduled for this morning in Scotts Bluff County Court. Initial bond in the case was set at $250,000 with a ten percent provision. Each charge carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of one year, and a maximum of 50 years.

INDEPENDENCE WOMAN FACING DRUG CHARGES REMAINS IN CUSTODY

Following a traffic stop on August 16, a drug-related felony charge has been filed against a 50-year-old Independence woman. According to a Lafayette County Sheriff’s deputy’s report, he located multiple drug-related items inside the vehicle- including multiple baggies of methamphetamine, as well as digital scales and other drug-related items. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash only, and Tammy Lee Stauffer has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance and a drug-related misdemeanor. Stauffer entered a plea of not guilty during her arraignment hearing on September 17. The court denied Stauffer’s Motion for Bond Reduction on January 19. A Motion for Change of Venue was not taken up at that court proceeding. A Plea/Trial Setting is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, February 1 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.

COLUMBIA MAN CITED FOR FELONY DRUG CHARGES AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

A 36-year-old Columbia man is facing felony charges after a traffic stop by a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper in Cooper County on January 5. According to the trooper’s report, the vehicle was stopped because it was traveling in excess of 110 miles per hour in the 70 miles-per-hour zone. The trooper says he located approximately three grams of suspected cocaine; approximately 69 grams of suspected marijuana; and a pack of cigarillos. The driver had a revoked or suspended license. Court documents say Kenneth Javar Blanford is charged with two counts of a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; a Class E Felony for Driving While Revoked or Suspended; and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond has not been set yet.
