An 84-year-old Moneta man who was charged in a homicide case died of COVID-19 complications, according to the medical examinerâs office.
Donald Taylorâs death on Feb. 8 was announced by the Franklin County Sheriffâs Office, but county authorities said they couldnât comment on the cause or other details. The medical examinerâs office conducted an exam and recorded the cause of death.

Taylor, who was taken into custody Dec. 17, was being held at the Western Virginia Regional Jail. He was sent to the hospital after falling ill and was later placed on a medical furlough, according to jail officials and court records.

Howard was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, according to police.
Dasyne Akiese Hairston has been arrested on charges of malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied building, reckless handling of a firearm and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Authorities said he turned himself in and is being held without bond.
Police said Johnson is still wanted for the same charges.

Authorities said the Martinsville Police Department is now being helped by the U.S. Marshals Office Fugitive Task Force to track Johnson down.
