Police shot my 17-year-old son from behind – FRSC official Daniels Igoni Yenagoa Mr Daniel Kokorifa, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps, has said his 17-year-old son, Innocent, was murdered in August 2016 by men of the Anti-Vice Unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command. Kokorifa, attached to the Port Harcourt, Rivers State Command of the FRSC, told the Bayelsa State Judicial Panel of Inquiry investigating police brutality and extrajudicial killing that the murder of his son terminated his dream of becoming a lawyer. He said his son met his untimely death while running an errand for his mother. Kokorifa, an indigene of Okpotuwari community of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state, in the petition dated November 4, 2020, through his counsel, E. A. Aluzu, said his son was shot from behind about 11.30am by one Corporal Vincent Kohamowei without provocation.

Breaking News | Three die, 33 others injured in Niger road crash

By Justina Asishana, Minna Three people have been killed and 33 others injured in a lone accident in Gwachipe Bridge in Lambatta area of Niger state. The accident which occurred at about noon on Wednesday was allegedly caused by the vehicle, a commercial trailer over speeding and due to its overloading; it lost control on the bridge and crashed. The vehicle which was going to Lagos from Kano had 36 passengers on board including the driver. The Suleja-Lambata outpost route of the Federal Road Safety Corps carried out the rescue exercise and evacuated the victims to the hospital. Confirming the accident, the Niger state Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joel Dagwa said that the lone crash involved a commercial trailer without plate number.

17 die in Kogi auto crash

Views: 552 At least 17 people died on Tuesday in a ghastly auto crash along the Okene- Lokoja – Abuja highway in Kogi State. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Kogi, Mr. Solomon Aghure, confirmed the incident to journalists in Lokoja. He said the accident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. and involved two vehicles. Aghure said the two vehicles – a luxury bus and a Toyota Hiace – were conveying a total of 55 passengers to different destinations. According to him, 15 passengers died on the spot while two others died in hospital. The FRSC official said: “The Toyota Hiace was going to Auchi, Edo State, and the luxury bus was coming from Okene axis in Kogi.

Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa says until the second Niger bridge project is completed, the high density of vehicular traffic at the Asaba and Onitsha ends of the bridge will remain a recurring decimal especially during the festive season. Okowa stated this at Government House Asaba during a press conference with the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Boboye Oyeyemi. The governor said the state government has concluded plans to set up a taskforce comprising the police, the military, FRSC officials and the Delta State Traffic Management Authority to handle the traffic situation. He called on the military and the police to dismantle their check points around the bridge so as not to frustrate any action aimed at easing off the traffic gridlock, even as he said his administration will not cease to assist the corps with logistics in traffic management.
