Double shooting early Thursday morning in Kalamazoo leaves one dead

Kalamazoo, MI, USA / WKZO | Everything Kalamazoo | 590 AM · 106.9 FM May 20, 2021 | 6:39 AM KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Two people were shot early this morning in Kalamazoo and one of them has died from their injuries. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety tells WWMT that officers responded to the 800 block of Lane Blvd. just before 2:00 a.m.. At the scene, officers located a 31-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The men were taken to an area hospital, where the 31-year-old was pronounced dead. The 23-year-old is said to have non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word yet on a suspect or motive in the shooting. Williams, 33, of Kalamazoo, was shot multiple times just before midnight on Saturday, May 15, in the 3100 block of Whittier Drive in Kalamazoo. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety told MLive that Williams was shot by a homeowner while he was attempting to break into a home. But family members of Williams, who worked as clerk at a nearby convenience store, said he would never do anything like that.
