A former Mississippi State Police officer was arrested in Bunnell with counterfeit money, brass knuckles, a gun, some police badges and a pair of clown masks in his vehicle, according to a press release. He was also pulling a trailer stolen in Volusia County, the report said.
Ettienne Joseph Mixon Jr., 35, was arrested Monday and charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of forged bills.
Mixon was being held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on $12,500 bond, the release said.
The case began when a license plate reader alerted the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 10:37 a.m. Monday that a black Chevrolet Tahoe was pulling a trailer reported stolen in Volusia County, according to the release.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A former officer who was caught hauling a stolen trailer was found to have badges and ammo from the Mississippi police department where he once worked, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said a license plate reader got a hit on the trailer, which had been reported stolen out of Daytona Beach, around 10:30 a.m. Monday and the Real Time Crime Center was immediately activated to locate the Chevrolet Tahoe that was towing it.

A license plate reader on Jan. 11 helped local deputies and Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly catch a fired Mississippi police officer hauling a stolen trailer and carrying forged bills, an illegally concealed firearm and law enforcement equipment and ID cards from his former department.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office received an alert from a license plate reader at 10:37 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, that a trailer reported stolen out of Volusia County was being pulled by a black Chevrolet Tahoe.
As Deon O Neal Jenkins and a friend sat in a car parked outside a Circle K in Palm Coast in the darkness of an early October morning, a man armed with a high-powered rifle concealed himself behind the gas station.
At 3:34 a.m. on Oct. 12, 2019, the man with the gun emerged from the darkness and within four seconds fired 16 shots at Jenkins, 26, and his friend, said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly during a press conference on Friday.
Flashes from the gunfire lit up the darkness. One of the bullets pierced Jenkins heart, killing him, a report said. Jenkins friend was hit in the right thigh and survived.
