PERIASAMY More than 100 people who work on contract basis at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) staged a protest in front of the Collectorate on Monday demanding job regularisation. The workers, around 150 of them, have been demanding permanent appointments citing their work during the pandemic and experience for several years. The demand was represented to the hospital administration.
However, the hospital administration declined the demand stating that it was not empowered to make such appointments.

New facility established within three days after witnessing patients in need of oxygen support waiting in ambulances The Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on May 16 opened a waiting area with oxygen supply to avoid making patients requiring oxygen support wait in ambulances outside the COVID-19 ward.
The hospital administration built an annex to the COVID-19 outpatient ward with 15 beds, each having a portable oxygen concentrator.

Coimbatore-based entities continue to donate huge sums to the chief minister’s public relief fund for the fight against Covid. According to government authorities, KPR Mills, Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) and Sri Krishna College have given Rs 1 crore each.
Executive director of KMCH Arun Palaniswami and chief executive officer Karthikeyan met chief minister M K Stalin on Friday and handed over cheque worth Rs 1 crore. KMCH had contributed the same amount to the fund last year also. S Malarvizhi, chairperson and managing trustee of Sri Krishna Institutions, also met Stalin to hand over a cheque. On behalf of KPR Mills, managing director C R Ananthakrishnan handed over the cheque.
