A jury convicted Paul Burraston on March 23 and Sacramento Superior Court Judge Sharon Lueras sentenced him on April 30, the Sacramento County District .

Steven Richard Kester, 75, of Orangevale, was booked in the Sacramento County Jail on multiple felony charges.   Kester was previously employed by the Folsom Cordova Unified School District and other schools in the Sacramento area. The Sacramento County Sheriff s Office did not say whether Kester s alleged acts were with any former students.

During a time when law enforcement agencies across the nation are being scrutinized over their use of force and transparency, a new report from Sacramento County's Inspector General outlines recommended changes for the sheriff's office. Mark Evenson, retired Brentwood police chief, started his new role as inspector general in February 2020. The report, which was released Wednesday from his office, lists 20 recommendations, and more than half are.
