Photo courtesy of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation  Jan. 17 (UPI) Famed music producer Phil Spector, whose legacy was marred by his conviction in the 2003 murder of actress and club hostess Lana Clarkson, has died. Spector was pronounced deceased of natural causes at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at an outside hospital. His official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner in the San Joaquin County Sheriff s Office, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said in a statement Sunday.

The suspects were identified as James Towles, 50, and Russell Altheide, 65. Towles faces charges that include possession of explosives, felony hit and run with injury, possession of cocaine, and possession of slungshot illegal weapon. Altheide also faces multiple charges including possession of explosives and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Residents in a Stockton neighborhood were asked to evacuate their homes while the FBI assisted with searching a home that deputies say was connected to the suspects and full of bombmaking materials. The scene has since cleared.Sign up for our Newsletters James Towles, 50, and Russell Altheide, 65, are suspected in the bombing of a Stockton church on Alpine Avenue and Delaware Avenue Saturday, where a person was seen on surveillance video throwing an explosive device, Deputy Alan Sanchez with the San Joaquin County Sheriff s Office said. The device caused minor damage.

Stockton man robbed at home

A 46-year-old Stockton man asleep in his bed Friday morning awoke to an intruder holding a knife, police say. Three suspects had broken into the victim s home in the 100 block of Mosswood Avenue at around 4:30 a.m., Stockton police reported.  (The victim) was woken by the suspect, who brandished a knife and told him to stay where he was, while two additional suspects ransacked his residence, police said. The suspects described as a 36-year-old woman and two men aged 59 and 20 years old stole miscellaneous items and then fled the residence on foot, police said.   Stockton police also responded to another robbery later Friday morning and reported one incident of resisting arrest. A 29-year-old woman was also reportedly pistol whipped with a handgun and robbed early Saturday morning in the 300 block of Rose Street in central Stockton.
