SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow announced that an Oceano man was found guilty of eight sex crimes, including four counts of forcibly raping a teenage girl.
38-year-old Joshua Delante Wheeler was convicted by a San Luis Obispo County jury on Thursday for committing these sex crimes against a young woman he had a legal duty to care for and protect.
The District Attorney s Office said these crimes were committed from May 15, 2019, through March 7, 2020. Wheeler was reportedly 36 years old when he began committing the crimes.

Police have identified the man killed Tuesday morning in an officer-involved shooting in Paso Robles as Steven Adam Calderon, 32, of Los Angeles.
At about 1:15 a.m., police say Calderon was shot by SWAT officers after an hours-long standoff when he refused to surrender and reached for his handgun.

Cambria man arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting woman on hiking trail
CAMBRIA, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff s Office announced the arrest of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman for hours on a Cambria hiking trail on Sunday.
Deputies said the sexual assault occurred on June 27. A woman told deputies she was on the Santa Rosa Creek hiking trail south of Windsor Boulevard in Cambria when a man suddenly dragged her off the trail.
The victim said she did not know the man, but he reportedly held her against her will and sexually assaulted her over the course of several hours before leaving her behind and fleeing the area.
