A KwaZulu-Natal couple has been charged with 14 counts of fraud for allegedly defrauding people out of almost R1 million from February 2018 to October 2019 by promising them discounts on holidays.
Holiday Scam: Police now calling for victims to come forward
A couple has appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court to face 14 counts of fraud related to their alleged discounted holiday scam.
Police have called on consumers who have been taken for a ride in a holiday scam that offered discounted holidays that did not materialise, to come forward and open charges against the suspects. This follows the recent appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court of a pair of alleged holiday scam operators who stole almost R1 million from unsuspecting consumers.
SAPS spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the suspects’ court appearance followed a string of fraud cases that they had allegedly committed between February 2018 and October 2019.
State to oppose bail application for employee accused of R2m theft

DURBAN - THE State intends to oppose the bail application of a G4S Cash Solutions employee accused of stealing R2.4 million from his employer.
Sihle Lungisani Ngcobo, 32, appeared in the Durban Magistrateâs Court on Monday where his matter was adjourned until June 8 for a formal bail application.
National Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said Ngcobo, from KwaDukuza, was arrested by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team for the alleged theft.
âIn December 2019, Ngcobo, an employee at G4S, allegedly stole R2.4m from the G4S Cash Solutions depot in Westville. A case was opened, which prompted the Hawksâ investigation,â Mogale said.
Megasen Roland Chetty (38) and Sarasvathi Belinda Pillay (47) appeared before the Durban Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with 14 counts of fraud, amounting to R900 000.
