The Lincoln Project’s leaders, amid the unfolding scandal of co-founder John Weaver soliciting sexual favors from young men, have asserted they were unaware of his indiscretions until last month, but electronic communications obtained by the Washington Blade call that claim into question and suggest some Lincoln Project executives knew about the texts as early as last summer, but took no substantive action in response.
The communications with Lincoln Project officials undermine the assertion that “there was no awareness or insinuations of any type of inappropriate behavior when we became aware of the chatter at the time,” as co-founder Steve Schmidt told The New York Times last month. A joint Chinese and World Health Organization panel investigating the origins of COVID-19 said it’s highly unlikely that the virus could have accidentally leaked from a laboratory.
While it didn’t completely rule out the possibility of a lab leak, the panel said it would not spend any more time investigating the theory.
The panel also reported that it found no cases of COVID-19 in Wuhan prior to December 2019.
The claim contradicts a January State Department report that said the U.S. government has reason to believe researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology came down with COVID-19 symptoms prior to the first known cases of the outbreak.

The National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC), one of a handful of Wall Street firms known as “clearinghouses,” demanded a whopping $3 billion from Robinhood, which Robinhood has repeatedly blamed for its highly criticized decision to halt trading.
“There is no reason why the greatest financial system the world has ever seen cannot settle trades in real time,” Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said Tuesday, criticizing the NSCC demand. “Doing so would greatly mitigate the risk that such processing poses.”
The clearinghouse, a middleman in the market that guarantees the completion of trades, calculates margin requirements using an algorithm that’s based on rules, which brokers like Robinhood must agree to.
