Addressing a press briefing, he said India was the fastest country to reach 6 million vaccination doses of COVID-19 in 24 days. Bhushan said within the country also some states have performed well while other need to improve their vaccination coverage. On the other hand, Bhushan said, there are 11 states and UTs that have vaccinated less than 40 per cent of healthcare workers.

The second dose of COVID-19 vaccine will be given to the beneficiaries who took the jab on the first day of the inoculation drive from February 13 onwards, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said on February 6.
Bhushan announced the date while reviewing the status and progress of COVID-19 vaccination drive - which began three weeks ago on January 16- with health secretaries and NHM MDs of states and Union territories, through video conference.

The second Covid vaccine dose for those who took the first shot on Day 1 of inoculation drive on January 16, will be administered on February 13, the government has said. The Centre also said while the country has made remarkable progress in terms of the number of people vaccinated, there is room for improvement in the number of average vaccinations per session.
