There have been at least 137,829 doses of the vaccine for the coronavirus administered in New Jersey as of Wednesday since the first shots were given three weeks ago, though that may be an undercount due to reporting delays, Gov. Phil Murphy said without providing specifics.
The vast majority of those doses 135,606 are the first of two doses people will receive. But health care workers at University Hospital in Newark were the first people in the state to get the second dose of the vaccine on Monday. There have been 2,149 people who have received the second.
Driver dies after crashing into tree in North Jersey

A man died Tuesday night after he crashed his car into a tree in East Orange, police said.
The man, whose name was not released Wednesday, was driving a Dodge Durango on North Grove Street when he crashed around 8 p.m., East Orange spokeswoman Connie Jackson told NJ Advance Media.
Members of the East Orange Fire Department arrived and performed CPR on the man before he was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he later died from his injuries, she said.
The cause of the accident and other details are still under investigation, authorities said.

NJ outlines COVID vaccine distribution plan
Residents of nursing homes in New Jersey have begun receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
NEW JERSEY - The New Jersey COVID vaccine distribution plan as outlined in part by the state health commissioner Monday involves breaking up the population into groups Category 1A, Category 1B and Category 1C, followed by the general public.
Healthcare workers such as doctors, nurses, and EMTs makeup Category 1A and have already been receiving the vaccine after it was first administered at University Hospital in Newark earlier this month.
Vaccinations for long-term care facility and nursing home residents and staff- who are also included in Category 1A- began Monday. New Jersey initiated those vaccinations a week later than other states including Connecticut and New York because it missed a federal deadline by one day.

Starting Monday, frontline healthcare workers will begin receiving doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the second vaccine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, announced Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. The county has received 1,000 doses allotted for Bergen County healthcare workers and will be administered at the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, Tedesco said in a statement.
