UN Peacekeeping: Army chief reiterates continued support Staff Correspondent Staff Correspondent
Bangladesh Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed reiterated Bangladesh s unwavering commitment and continued support to the UN peace operations during his meetings with top UN officials this week, said an ISPR press release issued on Wednesday.
The army chief, who is now on a visit to the USA, also called for the deployment of more Bangladeshi peacekeepers in UN peacekeeping missions globally.
He requested appointment of more Bangladeshi officers in senior positions of the peace operations and the UN headquarters, the release said.
The chief of army staff held a meeting with Atul Khare, under-secretary- general of the Department of Operational Support, on Monday and thanked him for enlisting Biman Bangladesh Airlines as a carrier of peacekeepers.

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2021 (BSS) – Biman Bangladesh Airlines will resume its regular commercial flights on Dhaka-Kathmandu-Dhaka route on every Monday and Thursday from February 18 next.
The tickets can be purchased from Biman’s mobile apps, websites, travel agents, tour operators, Biman call centers and sales counters, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines press release said here today.
The conditions, instructions and schedules regarding COVID-19 to this end are available on Biman’s website-(www.Biman-airlines.com), the release added.
Passengers should carry eight copies of Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) negative certificate for COVID-19 from any government approved laboratory with validity of 72 hours from sample collection to departure time.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is going to resume Dhaka-Kathmandu-Dhaka commercial flights from February 18.
Tahera Khandaker, deputy general manager (public relations) of Biman, confirmed the information in a press release on Sunday.
The flights will be operated on Monday and Thursday in each week, it said.

Mirza Fakhrul off to Singapore for treatment

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left Dhaka for Singapore this morning for medical treatment.
Fakhrul, along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum, left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight around 8:40am, said his personal secretary M Yunus Ali.
He said Fakhrul will receive treatment at Farrer Park Hospital for various complexities.
Once he reaches Singapore, the BNP leader will stay in quarantine as per the rules there and then go to the hospital for treatment, Yunus said.
