Palestinian freedom fighter free after completing 35 years behind Israeli bars

RAMALLAH, Monday, April 2021 (WAFA) – Palestinian freedom fighter, Rushdi Abu Mukh, 58, was released today after completing his 35-year prison sentence in Israeli jails, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).
Abu Mukh, from the Arab town of Baqaa al-Gharbieh inside Israel, was detained in 1986 along with three others from the same town for their resistance of the Israeli occupation. He was first sentenced to life in prison, and later his prison term was set to 35 years.

Israel is still holding 25 Palestinians, who were detained by Israel before the Oslo Accords. Israeli authorities on Monday released Palestinian detainee Rushdi Abu Mokh, 58, after serving 35 years in prison.

th year behind bars, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).
Director of PPS in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, Montaser Samour, told WAFA that Thabet Mardawi, 46, from
Araba village, south of Jenin, was shot and seriously injured before he was captured and then sentenced to 21 life sentences in addition to 40 years for his activism in the armed resistance against the Israeli occupation.
