Melvin S Surratt, 35, of Godfrey, was charged March 5 with escape, a Class 3 felony.
Also on March 5, Justin D. Johnson, 43, listed as homeless out of Alton, was charged with escape, a Class 3 felony.
Both cases were presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
According to court records, Surratt, who had been convicted of being a felon in possession of a weapon on Nov. 12 and was conditionally released from the Madison County Jail through an electronic home monitoring detention program, violated the terms of that program by not returning to the jail at a designated time.

EDWARDSVILLE Possession of between 30-500 grams of cannabis resulted in a felony charge against a Belleville man Thursday, one of a number of drug-related charges filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Jarel E. Ford, 26, of Belleville, was charged March 4 with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a Class 3 felony.
The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. According to court documents, on March 3 Ford allegedly was found to be in possession of 30-500 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver.

Two charged in Collinsville armed robbery

EDWARDSVILLE Two people were charged Wednesday in an armed robbery in Collinsville.
Nadia I. Villegas, 18, of Collinsville; and Derrick W. Anthony, 18, of Granite City, were both charged March 3 with one count each of armed robbery, both Class X felonies.
The cases were presented by the Collinsville Police Department.
According to court documents, on Feb. 22 the two allegedly used a firearm to take cash from a third person. During the robbery the victim was struck with the gun.
Bail was set at $100,000 for Villegas and $150,000 for Anthony.

EDWARDSVILLE A father and son both face felony charges after an incident in Bethalto on Feb. 27.
Jerome L. Graves, 51, of Wood River, was charged March 1 with aggravated driving while under the influence, a Class 2 felony, and aggravated driving under the influence while license revoked/suspended and driving while license revoked, both Class 4 felonies.
Jerome E. Graves, 27, of Hartford, was charged March 1 with domestic battery (second subsequent offense), a Class 2 felony.
Both cases were presented by the Bethalto Police Department.
According to court documents, on Feb. 27 the elder Graves allegedly was driving a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country while under the influence of alcohol, while having a revoked license for DUI. It was noted that he had a previous conviction for driving while license revoked.
