The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 267 new cases of COVID-19 and six coronavirus-related deaths Tuesday. Since the virus hit the state in March 2020, a total of 313,942 cases and 72,40 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported.  According to a New York Times database Tuesday, at least 367 new coronavirus deaths and 36,451 new cases were reported in the U.S. Monday. Over the past week, there has been an average of 39,124 cases per day, a decrease of 29% from the average two weeks earlier. The department on Tuesday reported 26 outbreaks at Mississippi nursing homes. The update for the number of cases of the coronavirus in long-term care facilities has been delayed as the data is under review, according to a message on the Mississippi State Department of Health s website. There have been 10,442 cases of the coronavirus in long-term care facilities, and 1,974 deaths reported as of April 16, the latest figures available.

(WDAM) - The Mississippi State Department of Health reported more than 500 new daily COVID-19 cases across the state over the three-day weekend. MSDH reported 509 additional cases and six new deaths Monday statewide. The new cases were reported between May 7-May 9. Four deaths were reported between May 6-May 8, while another two deaths were discovered between April 10-April 22 during a review of death certificates.
