Two people were hospitalized after a stabbing outside a New Jersey high school Monday afternoon, and a 20-year-old man now faces attempted murder charges, prosecutors in Monmouth County said Wednesday.
Jadon Carter, of Asbury Park, also faces a charge of unlawful possession of a weapon in the stabbing, which happened amid an argument involving students in front of Asbury Park High School, officials said. Download our mobile app for iOS or Android to get alerts for local breaking news and weather.
The superintendent of Asbury Park Public Schools said that it appeared two or more students had a disagreement during the school day, and it continued after dismissal. Superintendent Sancha Gray said an individual who does not attend the school may have provided a weapon to one of the students after school.

Jadon Carter, 20, was also charged with a weapons offense in the melee.
Police went to the high school at 3:40 p.m. after receiving a call about a fight.

They found the victims 17- and 18-year-old males with stab wounds. Both were taken to a local hospital where they remained Wednesday. Their conditions were not released.
No additional details on a police officer who was injured at the scene were released. The officer was treated at a local hospital and released.
City officers found Carter at the scene and took him to Asbury Park police headquarters where he was charged, the Monmouth County Prosecutor s Office said.
