Expressions of interest open for railyards redevelopment

Premium Content Subscriber only Rockhampton businesses can now register their interest to be part of the redevelopment of Rockhampton’s railyards. The State Government wants a 17-hectare section of the Bolsover Street site to contribute to rail manufacturing. Regional Roads and Train Manufacturing Assistant Minister Bruce Saunders said the site could become a regional rail supply chain hub. “We’re moving ahead with our election commitment to build trains in Maryborough and Rocky will play an important part in the supply chain,” he said. “Queensland’s new trains will be built in Maryborough, but we see the potential for components and materials needed during manufacturing to be supplied from other parts of the state like Rockhampton.”

New $7 8m unit development planned for Rocky

New shade shelters for North Rocky parks

New shade shelters are being installed at two parks in North Rockhampton. Yewdale Park in Frenchville is receiving a $125,000 shade shelter and Church Park in Park Avenue is getting a $85,000 shade shelter. Both shade shelters are being delivered by Rockhampton Regional Council. Parks, Sport and Public Spaces Councillor, Cherie Rutherford, said the new 18m by 13m shade shelter at Yewdale Park would make it even easier to enjoy the recently installed playground equipment. The new equipment, which includes climbing structures, a flying fox, swings, and a rodeo board, has been a real hit with families, and this shade structure is the icing on the cake, Cr Rutherford said.

Three new Rocky bike paths worth $16 6m under construction
