Hays County reports 167 new cases

The Hays County Local Health Department reports 167 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 89 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 21,342, total active cases to 1,670 and recoveries to 19,397. There have been a total of 275 COVID-19-related fatalities in the county since the start of the pandemic. The county reports the total active cases in the past 21 days is 1,948. San Marcos, Kyle and Buda have 448, 559 and 404 active cases, respectively. According to Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the total number of received negative tests in the county is now 196,435. The total number of hospitalizations is 1,012 and total current hospitalizations is 45 after no new people were hospitalized and one was discharged.

Hays County brings back Monday-Friday COVID-19 reports amid surge, 4 fatalities reported Tuesday

Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, the Hays County Local Health Department has reinstated Monday-Friday coronavirus reports.  Hays County previously scaled back COVID-19 reports to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as cases declined during the early summer months. But active coronavirus cases have nearly octupled since the beginning of July, rising from 177 on July 2 to 1,592 on August 3.  In its Tuesday report, Hays County reported four COVID-19-related fatalities. The local health department stated that the four Hays County residents who died were a Dripping Springs man in his 90s; a Wimberley man in his 70s; a Buda man in his 60s; and a Kyle man in his 30s. Hays County’s coronavirus death toll has risen to 275. 

2 Kyle women die from COVID-19; County reports 470 new cases Monday

Two Kyle women recently died of COVID-19, the Hays County Local Health Department reported Monday.  The county stated that one woman was in her 70s and one was in her 60s. Hays County has now recorded 271 coronavirus-related fatalities since the onset of the pandemic.  The local health department also tallied an additional 470 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases, 71 recoveries, 30 hospitalizations and 17 hospital discharges on Monday, which included information from July 31-August 2.  The county considers 1,425 cases active 397 more than Friday and there have been 20,966 total cases since the first diagnosis of the virus within its boundaries on March 14, 2020. Hays County has tallied 1,425 COVID-19 cases over the past 21 days. There have been 2,300 probable cases spanning from April 2020 through Aug. 2, 2021.

2 Hays County residents die of COVID-19, 256 new cases tallied Wednesday

The Hays County Local Health Department recorded its youngest COVID-19 related fatality among two deaths reported Wednesday.  The local health department stated that an 18-year-old San Marcos woman and a 60-year-old Buda woman recently died from COVID-19. Hays County has now seen 268 coronavirus-related fatalities since the onset of the pandemic.  The local health department also reported 256 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases, 54 recoveries, seven hospital discharges and five hospitalizations on Wednesday, which included information from July 24-26. The county considers 915 cases active 200 more than Monday. Hays County’s active case count has risen from 177 on July 2 to the 915 tallied on Wednesday. There have been 20,312 total cases since the first diagnosis of the virus within its boundaries on March 14, 2020. Hays County has tallied 1,128 COVID-19 cases over the past 21 days. There have been 2,262 probable cases spanning from April 2020 through July 28, 2021.
