STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A Staten Island public high school is the third best in New York state, according to a new ranking.
WalletHub a personal finance website released its list of the best public high schools in New York state for 2021. Staten Island Technical High School in New Dorp ranked third.

LONG ISLAND, NY Five Long Island high schools were named among the best public schools in the state in a recent study conducted by WalletHub.
WalletHub compared more than 1,200 public high schools across the state across multiple metrics, which it grouped into four categories: college readiness, school experience, diversity and teacher and staff. It combined the metrics to create a score out of 100 for each school. College readiness was the most important metric, and was worth 40 points. The other three were worth 20 points each.
Accessibility issues at Ocean Breeze vaccination site being addressed by city

Following the opening of high schools citywide, the vaccination site at Staten Island Tech High School was relocated to the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Complex. Some Staten Islanders have complained about the accessibility of the site for people with mobility issues.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Borough residents with varying mobility issues raised concerns about accessibility at the vaccination site that recently opened at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is now being used as a vaccination hub run by the city Department of Health following the reopening of public high schools. Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations scheduled at Staten Island Technical High School were moved to Ocean Breeze beginning March 22.
City to open vaccine site on the South Shore April 8, mayor says

The much-needed site will open at the former St. Joseph St. Thomas school, located at50 Maguire Avenue.
South Shore residents have complained about the lengthy travel to one of the borough’s other vaccination sites. The closest site was at Staten Island Technical High School, which was shuttered two weeks ago when high schools reopened citywide.
The site was relocated to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Father Capodanno Boulevard, which is further away from the South Shore than the previous location.
The mayor thanked Borough President James Oddo, who joined the daily press briefing, for his advocacy for Staten Island’s need.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. With coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine eligibility set to expand this week and an increasing supply expected, two elected officials toured a Staten Island vaccination site Monday.
Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and City Councilwoman Debi Rose (D-North Shore) toured the site at Empire Outlets Monday afternoon as calls continue for more vaccine access on Staten Island.
“I know they want to expand capacity,’ Williams said. “You probably need to get a couple more (sites) in different areas of Staten Island. We obviously have to just open some more sites.”
