The Ministry of Education and Training announced on Sunday that Vietnamese students grabbed two gold medals with the highest score, one silver, three bronzes and two certificates of merit from the 2021 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO).
Among eight Vietnamese students participating in the 2021 APhO, 12th-grader Nguyen Manh Quan from the Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted scored the highest point in the online contest, winning a gold medal and a certificate of merit from the APhO Chair.

A Hanoi 12th grader has become the first Vietnamese to achieve the highest score at Asian Physics Olympiad.
Vietnam sent a team of eight students to the 21st Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), with six scooping medals.
Nguyen Manh Quan and Tran Quang Vinh, both 12th graders from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, pocketed golds.
Quan scored the highest among all contestants, becoming the first Vietnamese student to achieve such a fete at an APhO event.

COVID-19: 60 cases documented on May 6
Vietnam recorded 60 cases of COVID-19 during the 12 hours to 6pm May 6, including 56 locally-infected cases and four imported, according to the Health Ministry.
Among the 56 local cases, 16 were at the second facility of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi, 12 in the northern province of Bac Ninh, 11 in the northern province of Vinh Phuc, four in Hanoi, 3 in the central city of Da Nang.
The national tally has reached 3,090, with 1,690 local cases. In the latest wave of outbreaks from April 27, 120 cases have been detected.
