291,225 customs declarations last month 12 Dec 2020 - 11:33 By Ayeni Olusegun | The Peninsula Doha: The General Authority of Customs (GAC) made 291,225 customs declarations in November, it said in its monthly newsletter yesterday. The GAC completed 266,498 air cargo declarations, while the maritime customs had 24,702 completed declarations. The GAC also released 99 percent of its declarations within an hour. According to the data, the GAC seized 1,888 capsules of narcotic pills, the largest made in November, making 135 seizure reports in that regard. India remained the top exporting country in November, while China replaced the United States as the leading importing country. The statistics also disclosed that the number of customs declarations transferred to government agencies reached 25,009. In contrast, the best government agency in ‘time of release’ was the Environmental Protection Reserves & Wildlife Department, whose average release time was two hours, an hour more than its October average.
