Fort Smith Times Record There are people who jump in line to get their COVID-19 vaccine, but the Arkansas Department of Health has a plan to keep these "vaccine hunters" at bay. Across the country, there are people who are lining up at pharmacies to see if they can receive the COVID-19 vaccine when they are not in the current phase. The hope is that in an effort to avoid wasting vaccines, pharmacies would give them a vaccine even though it is not their turn. However, this does not seem to be happening in the River Valley. Pharmacies are using lists of eligible people in the area to make sure vaccines get into the arms of people. According to Kelly Rappeport of MediSav Pharmacy in Fort Smith, there are a few "lucky" people who are not eligible for the vaccine yet that are able to get it, but the number of those people is negligible.
