ADH: Vaccine hunters not an issue in Arkansas

There are people who jump in line to get their COVID-19 vaccine, but the Arkansas Department of Health has a plan to keep these vaccine hunters at bay.
Across the country, there are people who are lining up at pharmacies to see if they can receive the COVID-19 vaccine when they are not in the current phase. The hope is that in an effort to avoid wasting vaccines, pharmacies would give them a vaccine even though it is not their turn.
However, this does not seem to be happening in the River Valley. Pharmacies are using lists of eligible people in the area to make sure vaccines get into the arms of people. According to Kelly Rappeport of MediSav Pharmacy in Fort Smith, there are a few lucky people who are not eligible for the vaccine yet that are able to get it, but the number of those people is negligible.  ....

Alma Superintendent discusses plan to vaccinate staff against COVID-19

Alma Superintendent David Wooly plans to have school district staff vaccinated for COVID-19 in as soon as two weeks. 
During the Jan. 14 Alma District School Board meeting held, Wooly said he has been in touch with Justin Boyd of Coleman Pharmacy about plans on getting the vaccine from the Arkansas Department of Health.
According to the state s vaccination schedule, teachers and school staff will begin receiving vaccinations Jan. 18 through medical clinics and local pharmacies.
Wooly said he conducted a survey of the school s staff to find how many will be willing to take it.
It was about 60%, Wooly said. That s the number of doses that Justin is trying to get. ....
